Move-In Week Acne: Why Your Skin Freaks Out in August
New water, new stress, new dorm pillowcases. Here's a simple plan for the first month of the semester.

Every August we see the same thing: students arrive for move-in and rush, and two weeks later their skin has broken out in a way it never did at home. It is almost never one cause.
What actually changed
Sleep dropped. Stress climbed. You are outside in 95-degree heat carrying boxes. You are eating differently. And your pillowcase has been through a dorm laundry room. That is a lot at once.
A three-step plan
Keep the routine boring: gentle cleanser, one active, moisturizer, SPF. Change pillowcases twice a week. And book one appointment early in the semester instead of waiting until it is bad.
When to come in
If you are getting deep, painful bumps along the jaw, LED plus a light peel series usually turns things around in about six weeks.
